The former Mosgrove Street changed its name to Freiman Street before being occupied by the Freiman mall and the Rideau Centre in the 1980s.
It was a short street which was extending from George Street to the former Canal bassin near Albert Street.

The City of Ottawa had a clause put in the agreement with the Rideau Centre that allows public access from George Street to the MacKenzie-King Bridge to replace the public access once provided by Mosgrove/Freiman Street. This access has often been denied by the Rideau Centre and the Bay but the public still have rights of access for loss of the old street.
