The archival photo was taken before the North end of Elgin Street got widened. It shows that back in the day, Elgin Street used to be that traditional main street with its numerous shops.
Pay attention to the street car rails on the picture when Elgin Street was services by street cars.
The 8 story building at the back was the Roxborough Apartments which was demolished to make room for the Confederation Park.
