Most of the buildings on the archival photo have been torn down.  The Windsor Hotel was located on the North-East corner of Metcalfe and Queen. On the extreme left of the photo we can see the Methodist Church who burned down in the 60's.  

The light building behind the remaining building was the Rideau Club which burned down at the end of the 1970s.  

The photo was also taken at the time the second version of the parliament was not up yet since the library is visible.

This is an incredible image. You can actually see the library (as Centre Block had burnt down). Quite amazing.
