This intersection of Sparks and Elgin has been drastically modified with the construction of the War Memorial.  The east part of Sparks was removed as well as all the buildings standing on that portion of the street.  On this picture, we can see the Dominion Express Co. and the McLaurin & Millar Barristers & Co.
