Corry Block

The Corry Block was the first modern building in Ottawa. It was built before the Union Station and was located on south side of Rideau Street.

Road expansion and priorities given to car traffic had reason of the Corry Block: Mackenzie Avenue has been expanded south in this awkward urban interchange which merge into Colonel By Drive.

The shores of the Rideau Canal certainly gained in maturity with the addition of the building of the former Union Station and the construction of the Château Laurier. However, the demolition of the Corry Block, the first "skyscraper" of Ottawa so that the Colonel By Drive could be connected to...
