Back in the day, before Gréber, Slater Street was reaching the Rideau Canal.

The apartment buildings, now demolished, were the Bates, Aylmer and Woods Apartments.

The direct link between the Queen-Elizabeth Drive and Elgin Street has been removed when the NAC took over.
